Ms. Simmonds has practiced family law exclusively since being admitted to the Bar in 2006. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Rice University, Master’s Degree in Cultural Anthropology from San Francisco State University, and J.D. with a concentration in Family Law from the UC College of the Law, San Francisco. In law school, among other things, Ms. Simmonds worked as a research assistant to Family Law Professor D. Kelly Weisberg; was a contributing author for and Executive Articles Editor of the Hastings Women’s Law Journal; externed for the Unified Family Court in San Francisco; and worked at the Family Law Facilitator’s office in San Francisco.

Ms. Simmonds joined Sucherman Insalaco LLP in 2007 as an Associate Attorney and became a Partner in 2014. She has worked on both trial-level and appellate matters. In 2019, working together with Partner Lowell Sucherman, Ms. Simmonds obtained a sanction-based attorney fee award from an opposing party in the amount of $2,127,500 — the largest known family law sanction ever awarded in California.

In 2020, Ms. Simmonds completed extensive mediation training.  She currently provides services as a family law mediator.

In 2022, Ms. Simmonds completed training and joined Collaborative Practice Golden Gate, Collaborative Divorce California, and the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals.  She currently offers representation in collaborative divorces.

Ms. Simmonds’s practice is focused on non-litigated matters, including mediation (as a mediator or consulting counsel), collaborative divorce, consulting in traditional cases, and drafting and reviewing pre-marital and post-marital agreements.

Ms. Simmonds is also committed to providing pro bono work for indigent and lower income clients. She has been received several Outstanding Volunteer in Public Service Awards from the Bar Association of San Francisco in recognition of this work.

Ms. Simmonds lives in San Francisco with her husband and son.
